Our vineyards

The farm "Azienda Agraria Musignano di Andreoli G e C" has a long tradition in the field of wine and grape production, and it was on the list of producers of the Trasimeno DOC until the middle of 1980s. The vines used for the production of red wines were Sangiovese (60-80%), together with Ciliegiolo, Gamay, Malvasia del Chianti and Trebbiano Toscano, while white wine production used the following vines: Trebbiano Toscano (60-80%), Malvasia del Chianti e Verdello. Besides DOC wines at the artisan level a small amount of vinsanto was produced from grapes that were made to wither (it. appassirepopup) in a suitable place. Vinsanto was kept approximately 5 years in kegs (small barrels) before it was bottled.

Due to various reasons, during the middle of 1980s one decided to stop wine-making and consequently vineyards did get less importance.

However, recently beginning from the year 2002, after the problems regarding the generation change, has began a new process that looks to increase the value of vineyardspopup and grape production. This has meant a progressive substitution of the old vineyards, that had become uneconomical, with new vineyards of the foloowing vines: Cabernet Savignon, Sangiovese and Merlot.

The replantation should consent us to adopt production types that are more rational and modern (e.g. the distance of plants is narrower which gives the possibility to adopt more modern ways of production that helps us to save in costs and labour). However, this has no meant that all elements of tradition have been abandoned, since we still have a vineyard on a hill slopepopup, which has been done only with chestnut poles.
