Living paintings by Terziere Borgo Dentro

In the cellars of Palazzo Orca one plays the most important scenes of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Flower feast of St. Luigi

The members of the Terziere  Casalino organise a feast for flowers (infiorata) where they cover the Pietro Vannucci street with paintings done by petals of flowers inspired by renaissance paintings.

time: Sunday closest to June 21st.

Palio dei Terzieri

The different parts of the city (Borgo Dentro, Casalino, Castello), inspired by the ancient contrasts that at the Medieval Age characterised the local life, compete with each other.

time: from 10th to the third Sunday of August

The Taverns of the "Terzieri"

In summer and especially during the period of Palio all the "terzieri" organise and maintain taverns where both tourists and locals may enjoy good local food and company. The Barbacane tavern is open also in June during the period of the flower feast of San Luigi.

Typical local products

Saffron

Città della Pieve is one of the biggest producers of saffron in Umbria and one has created a consortium of producers that looks after the quality and marketing of the product.

Olive oil

Local olive oil belongs to the PDO Umbria - Colli Orvietani, and the production of biological olive oil is increasing in the region.

Wine

The local wines belong to the Denomination of Controlled Origin of Colli del Trasimeno and from website of the consortium for the quality of Colli del Trasimeno wines you may find additional information.

Meat products

Sausages and hams, and also products from the indigenous pork of breed "Cinta Senese".
